recordmydesktop does not save
« on: September 15, 2023, 02:32:31 PM »
Running TC14 and trying to record my desktop screen for a youtube.  After I enter the command recordmydesktop --device hw:1,0 --fps 30  it states recording  but after Ctrl-C to start encoding to an out.ogv file, it does not save (terminal quickly changes to a prompt).  Audio is setup correctly verified by playing youtube in vivaldi browser.  Anyone know why I am not getting out.ogv file?

I’ve had random issues like this with CLI recorders before, especially where nothing gets saved after you stop the recording, so I switched to using more modern screen capture tools for reliability. Sometimes those older apps just don’t play well with different setups, and it gets annoying troubleshooting every time when you need a quick recording for YouTube.

Lately, I just use online options since I don’t want to mess with downloads or fixing CLI bugs. For this kind of thing, movavi makes it super easy since it works right from the browser, and I never run into missing file issues.
