is there 64bit TC/ video prob?
« on: September 13, 2023, 10:53:46 PM »
I have a 64bit PC with 8G of RAM, although I am running coreplus 14 and it seems to work well.  I have 2 main questions.
1.  Is there a TC iso specifically for 64bit with graphic interface (my preference is JWM)?
2.  video display does not quite optimal (my HDTV 1360x768 native resolution connected via display port).  After installing 915resolution.tcz and adding 915resolution 50 1360 768 24 to the bootsync.sh and rebooting I am still getting following with inzi -Fz command
Code: [Select]
tc@box:~$ inxi -Fz
System:
  Kernel: 6.1.2-tinycore arch: i686 bits: 32 Desktop: JWM v: 2.3.6
    Distro: TinyCore 14.0
CPU:
Info: dual core model: Intel Core i5-4570T bits: 64 type: MT MCP cache:
    L2: 512 KiB
  Speed (MHz): avg: 799 min/max: 800/3600 cores: 1: 800 2: 800 3: 798 4: 800
Graphics:
Device-1: Intel Xeon E3-1200 v3/4th Gen Core Processor Integrated Graphics
    driver: N/A
Display: server: TinyX Xvesa v: 1.3 driver: vesa s-res: 1024x768
API: VBE v: 3.0 source: Intel(R dac: fixed controller: VGA compatible
    ram: 31.9 MiB
tc@box:~$
furthermore xrandr -q command results in
Code: [Select]
tc@box:~$ xrandr -q
 SZ:    Pixels          Physical       Refresh
*0   1024 x 768    ( 347mm x 260mm )  *0
 1    640 x 480    ( 347mm x 260mm )   0
 2    800 x 600    ( 347mm x 260mm )   0
 3   1360 x 768    ( 347mm x 260mm )   0
Current rotation - normal
Current reflection - none
Rotations possible - normal left inverted right
Reflections possible  - X Axis Y Axis
no mention of display port connection...

why is it reporting 1024x768?

You are mixing up 2 arches in the one question....and I might get easily confused by that.

To the best of my knowledge there has never been a coreplus for 64 bit that offers both wireless support and multiple desktops including JWM

I would suggest you download TinyCorePure64....test it.....and then add TCEs including jwm.tcz or maybe the meta TCE  Xorg-jwm-desktop.tcz

on x86 or 32 bit you appear to be running vesa driver. Before you try out 64 bit, you may like to see if you can set up  Xorg?

Note Juanito is being very polite....when the info reads

Note: the graphics-KERNEL extension may be required for intel hardware or the
                modesetting driver included with xorg-server

I would suggest to you that just ensure graphics-KERNEL is named above Xorg* in your boot list

3) Have you considered loading firmware-i915? Firmware should IMHO be above graphics-KERNEL in your boot list
Are you seeing any hits in
Code: [Select]
dmesg | grep firmware
I can not help with 915* stuff as I am on AMD, also TC64 does not appear to have 915resolution.tcz

Your Xvesa listing shows the mode was appended as it should. Now you need to select it, use the control panel or edit .xsession manually.
The only barriers that can stop you are the ones you create yourself.

Also, note that Xvesa is 32bit only, so you'll need to use Xfbdev or Xorg in CorePure64.
