New piCore image dated 20130627 is now posted. Changes:
  • rfkill added
  • base modules rearranged

Download:

piCore-20130627.img.gz md5

piCore-X-20130627.img.gz md5

Common kernel modules are available in the repo. If you need some exotic module, the whole module pack:

piCore-modules-3.8.13-002.piCore.tar.gz md5

Could you upload to the repo not only .img file but also core.gz and kernel?
Or make a directory on the repo and extract img file into it.

This makes updating core more easily.

Thanks,
Akane.

Hi.

My raspberry pi seems to have an issue with images after picore-20130123. Until (inclusive) this version they all boot. After that they dont. The newest has the same behaviour. The system keeps on booting (it reboots way more than 15 times)... until finally it hangs on loading the extensions...

I'm installing SD cards using Win32 Disk Imager.

What am I missing?

Thanks.

Please provide details. What do you see on the screen during boot? Did you try another SD card?

For testing I installed both piCore-20130627.img and piCore-X-20130627.img on a 2GB micro SD card using Win32diskimager-0.8 on Windows XP, SD card placed into external multi card USB adapter. They are working fine as expected.

I see many issues dute to faulty SD card. Please try another one.

BTW, above is true if you see booting messages on the screen. If it is blank, there is another issue with wrong configuration or conenction to the monitor.

Hi bmarkus.

thanks for your interest on this matter.

When booting i see that colorfull screen, then the raspberry pi symbol on the top left corner of the screen and then back to the colorfull screen again. It cycles through this a lot of times. Then, i can see the piCore "post" messages, but it hangs when loading the extensions.

I'm trying 3 different SD Cards. 256MB (transcend 45x), 2GB (regular Sandisk) e 4GB (SDHC Sandisk). They all present the same behaviour.

My Win32 Disk Imager is 0.6 version. I'll try the 0.8

EDIT: win32 diskimager 0.8 doesn't help.

Is it piCore or piCore-X ? Try piCore. It is the minimal system with no any extensions, just a basic CLI. Which RPi version you have?

Both X-piCore an piCore exibit the same behaviour.
My RPi is model B (512MB).

I'm starting to think is something related to hardware. Since some other RPi OS'es also had trouble on booting correctly. I tried 2, and had a 50% success rate.

Could be. But check the power supply first, next try to get few other SD cards.

Thanks,

There are other files which may change from one version to another, like firmware, boot config, etc. Therefore safe update requeries update of whole mmcblk0p1 partition, not only initrd and kernel.

the problem was with the power cable.
Used another one and it worked fine.

Thanks.  ;)
