On shutdown,  this message shows (eth0: failed to load firmware "tigon/tg3_tso5.bin")
What is this ?

Some wired ethernet adapters require firmware to be loaded in order to work.

This looks like the system was attempting to load firmware it could not find. "tg3_tso5.bin" is in the "firmware" extension

Well,
FireFox works OK (and now with flash on TC distro), just flickers this error message.

On this "sand-box"  computer, I have installed Puppy (3 distros) Puppy Lighthouse, Knoppix, Slack, Ubuntu, Xubuntu, Parted-Magic,  and none of them give this error concerning use of the "eth0" , and all of them use the eth0 for the same version of FireFox to access internet.
So,,, I have some more checking to do.     
Not at all "dead in the water", just one more thing to be curious about.

Went to my main computer,  HP, 1G RAM, 40G HD.
Have  XP, with /pmagic (Parted-Magic) booting, in sda1.
Have Ubunto, with /tinycore 3.4 and /tc booting, grub2, in sda5.
Have sda6 as large data, ext2.
Have sda3 as Swap Linux.
FireFox runs OK,
. . . does not show a shutdown error.   

Booted from the TinyCore 3.6 Live-CD and the error message returns.   

Well, not a 'show-stopper' by any means. 
Maybe some config setting shuts-down a driver early.

Also, Geany drops a "socket-box" file occassionaly, locking Geany. 
Wonder why ?   
Perhaps I am opening the same file.txt twice ?

Found this about the "tigon tg3_tso5.bin" from Debian.

Answering myself.

Error message during debug was:
tg3   000:  05:  02.0 !  firmware: requesting tigon/tg3-tso5.bin
eth0: failed to load  tigon/tg3-tso5.bin
eth0: TSO capability disabled.

Note:
During debug, caused a drop to command line.
This file is not available from the TinyCore repository.
May be available from another repository, via ftp, via Ubuntu.

Does not seem to affect anything, but always appears.

So loading the firmware.tcz extension containing /usr/local/lib/firmware/tigon/tg3_tso5.bin doesn't change anything?
