Hi nitram. As a said in my first msg: This technique does not work with the abiword "subwindows": neither A+Left mouse button for moving the window as a hole nor Alt+Right mouse button to resize (which works on all other programs i used up to now in tcl). May be i can play around with the fluxbox key and shortcut settings furthermore ... (will have to see)
Ah, i forgot: The "subwindows" "Save as" or "Open" already are fullscreen without decoration.
Sorry missed that. You didn't try the other two suggestions?
If the sub-window was truly full-screen then you should see the entire window. The openbox config settings mentioned force all windows to full screen/screen resolution, but unless you try it you'll never know. Have been using this for years without issue. All maximized means even application popups, like save as..., are forced to fit, nothing ever off-screen. I personally like Fluxbox better day-to-day but not sure it has this option. The other suggestion, DWM, would only take a few minutes to install and test.
Edit: In the end still think it's a (limited) screen resolution issue, doubt re-compiling Abiword would change anything. The popup is probably programmed to be 600 pizels tall or something, unless you want to take a look at the source code?
