In simple terms: The BIOS is the link between the motherboard & the operating system bootstrap code, firmware links extra (daughter) boards on the motherboard to the operating system. The operating system accepts input from devices, (keyboard, mouse, tablet, etc), & sends it to programs,  which control how the computer reacts.

PS...THE point is ......that code by Bill Gates is Hidden. It's Closed Source and can never ever be reveiled. Then the hardware chips and bootstrapping tATOO further obscifates that hidden code....."it's CLOSED SOURCE code".....and is still the same now

Closed source proprietary firmware yes. Not just BIOS though, Flash, proprietary graphic drivers, hard drive firmware is all closed source. Would you trust a programmer other than Bill Gates more or less?...and how would you determine as it's still closed source. The BIOS does not prevent the use of other operating systems.

I guess it might be possible to exclude certain/any boot loaders (or whatever) different to windows at bios level, in order to prevent other OSes to load ; until it gets hacked (not the nasty way - the macgyver way). (;

Technically, anything that runs something in a digital manner has an operating system running - Wash machine, digital clock. But there is a distinct difference between BIOS and OS on a desktop like system. They can control each other, but the OS can be more easily adopted to work-around limitations of the BIOS (etc).
