Do you ever look at Kalibrios OS?  (and others)

they fit on a single floppy....but contain no less than about 20 tools like spreadsheets etc....FTP...web browser

They find your soundcard and video chip and world wide web connection. Boot in 3 seconds. Lightening fast.

There is a library of about 20 extra free tools for them...including graphical browsers and mp3 players and stuff...

10,664 times smaller than the current Msoft windows 8.1  (which is 16 gigabytes) but infintately more powerful and fast......KB was even written over 10 years ago....

also they are Free....
