PXE tinyCore
« on: October 27, 2013, 12:05:00 AM »
Hi folks
I have a problem in PXE booting tiny core with CCBOOT.
I downloaded CorePlus-current.iso, then create a virtual machine in vmware ESXi 5.1 with IDE Hard disk, then boot the Live Tiny core and install the tiny core with tc_install on the Hard disk.
When I UN mount the DVD in the Virtual machine every things goes fine and I can see the GUI of the tiny core.
I copied the tiny core folder on my desktop computer and addressed the .VMDK file of that virtual machine in the CCBOOT.
When my zero Clients boots up it just shows me the TEXT mode of the Tiny core not the GUI-
There is no XSETUP or STARTX or INIT5 in the command line
I don’t know how to go to the GUI
Please help me.

No i was wrong - the problem is still there
the TinyCore 3.x can boot GUI over network ut the latese relase 4.x or 5.x can not and i have to customize it for the GUI boot
also there is a point that  i forgot to talk about
the PXE server is not just CCBOOT - i tried TC-TERMINAL-SERVER - netboot - TFTP32 - Ultimate ... but i just get the same result
i'm sure there is a file in the TC 4.x and 5.x which holds the configuration for network booting  or slow links

i have to dig more
any way looking forward to hear from you guy

http://wiki.tinycorelinux.net/wiki:start#persistence and http://wiki.tinycorelinux.net/wiki:start#remastering will also be of value if you need to save the configuration.

I've personally added a remastered TinyCore to my PXE servers and always have a GUI when I want one.  I actually use the same remastered system on USB, CD, PXE and HDD.
