Core logo, restrictions on usage?
« on: August 30, 2012, 02:38:53 AM »
Hello what are the restrictions on the core logo when it comes to "claim"  a modified version? I will of course use same license or "less".

I have started to maintain my own spinoff and want a logo for it. I like it to be visible that its based on TCL which i also state it is.

Hi ananix
I think you will have to wait for roberts to provide an answer for that.

Ok Rich, im no way in a hurry :) but i think i have come to the conclusion its not gonna be based on the core logo, its simply to complex (ugly?) for my style and opinion about logo's, maybe im just gonna add "A TCL spinoff" or "Based on TCL".

But it would be nice to know anyway :)

Im not gonna use the http://tinycore.linuxfreedom.com/images/TinycoreLogo.png  as base for logo but it seems to have become the unofficial, official logo, but i dont regocnize that status as its not approved from here. Besides its only a little bit better than the original.

xyz-worx is there something particular in the link i should look at? I cant find any usefull information in regards to my subject?  Besides i have read that one before as im also thinking about changeing the kernel boot logo as i think its totaly missplaced with a logo there. Besides that its also anoying it takes up a therd of the screen when booting low res systems, one really has to be fast on the ctrl+q and s. In all i think its also against the nature of tiny core to have such a useless and restricting thing to clutter up a perfect ideologi.

I don't mind a re-spin using a modified Core logo. Take for example jls modified one for his enlightenment re-spin. Just don't copy it as that would only confuse users.
