Hello

can you help to install Adobe Flash

i have a clean boot of tcl 4.5 with a fresh tce directory.

0) i installed alsa sound (OK)
1) Installed Opera a browser from SCM library (ok)
2) Run the browser.
3) Install getFlash11 from SCM (ok)
4) Moved the resulting "flash.scm" into my normal tce directory
5) Completed step 4 and after reading the info notes of getFlash11.scm moved to step 6 below
6) Typed getFlash11.sh --available into a terminal but it gives an error message and does not show the available Flash versions as per info page.

any advice?

The address has changed where all the old versions for dev's are no longer available it seems..  though I had an older 10 version which I'm still using on my old pc.

I will take a look at the getFlash11.scm, I thought I removed the --available function to keep it simpler and just stay current, but I will see.

Oh please we need the available function   ;D

Unfortunately I can't find yet the updated address as Adobe has had a reshuffle, otherwise would have tried changing the address in the extension already..

Hello

ok, lowercase works. It shows available adobe flash versions.

yes, the latest version Adobe from about 3 weeks ago
does not work on my laptop. IT works on the desktop
which is much newer hardware.

Rich was saying that it could be the laptop ram which is too low at 256.

Anyway, it seemed to make sense to first try an earlier Adobe Flash than
the current version.

That is what i am trying to do

thanks

V.

The --available function only pertains to current and previous available flash 11 versions, which would help older hardware none at all, and I don't see a reason not to stay with the latest minor version of the major version being used.  But some folks seemed to like to be able to choose a point release in the current flash release cycle.  But unless there is a general demand for that in the scm area, it will stay simple.

Using older flash10 or flash9 would help older hardware but would not be compatible with the current web, as far as I know.  So that exercise is left to the user.

Thanks for looking into the issue Jason,  Didn't understand full meaning the available switch,  anyhow I use Flash10 on older equipment satisfactorily so will stick with that for now.

Thanks

Hello

Jason  i tried the second to last version...it didn't help me.

So is it worth trying any other 11.??? versions?

The latest was 11.2 something...i shifted down to 11.1 or something...but it didn;t
make the flash work.

I will try again from scratch using TCZ apps.

Is there a flash version option in the tcz app?

thanks
