Can't connect to WEP/WPA networks with wicd-ncurses.
« on: November 05, 2011, 05:59:40 PM »
I'm using microcore 3.8.4, using wicd-curses to connect to the internet from a wireless dongle. I'm having trouble connecting to any networks that are WEP/WPA protected. I can get a working connection on open networks, but nothing on my WEP network.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

For microcore, I use wifi.tcz which works fine on open, WEP or WPA networks that I use. Maybe will work for you.
Never tried wicd so cannot be of help there.

is it possible to use wifi.sh to auto-connect to a specified wpa network? eg to run in /opt/bootlocal.sh (IE-- what is the best way to autoconnect to wpa network on boot with microcore) ??

[edit: particularly interested in the fastest way to automatically get the network up from boot]

I have documented such in the .info file. Use appbrowser to re-read it.

Sorry, i did read that but it didn't come across as obvious to me that this could handle encryption. At a glance it sounded like it just connected to the first wifi found, with this method. But thanks, i see the wifi.db is created from running the script normally which will then be used for autolaunching.
