Volume Control
« on: September 02, 2011, 10:46:07 AM »
I have successfully installed OSS on tinycore, which gets the volume to work for the flash players on youtube and such. However, I have no way to adjust the volume, and the set volume is very low in accordance to what my computer can actually put out. Is there a program that allows me to adjust the volume to higher/lower levels?

Just installed flit, and it says that the volume is already at 100%...any other suggestions?

No luck. The ossxmix volume control is all the way up, but the volume is still about half what it could be. Any other suggestions?

bfnsga: Maybe you could share the full output of 'ossmix' (e.g. as attachment) here.

I've found that I needed to tweak different values in 'ossmix' (or 'ossxmix') to increase the volume depending on which hardware I was using.

hello

this topic also happened to me while i was using oss.tcz and an external usb soundcard.

to get a global volume control for all your desktop tools you can do the extra steps below...

1) install the extension called "oss-alsa.tcz"
2) go to a terminal and type "sudo alsamixer"
3) in the mixer window press f6 and select you soundcard
4) one of the sliders should then give you a global volume control

this may or may not work for you. It worked for an external usb soundcard here which
did not contain any sliders at all within the  "ossmix" app.

I have solved the issue. As it turns out, I simply didnt adjust one of the volume control bars in ossxmix, which ended up making a huge difference. Thanks a lot for all of the replies.
