fluxbox cursor and keystroke question
« on: November 03, 2009, 06:13:47 AM »
Good morning:

I am experimenting with fluxbox and encountering problems with the cursor.

When moving around between app's or selecting fluxbox configuration options, the cursor often becomes distorted. Somtimes becoming a large square (perhaps 1cmx1cm), a group of 2 or 3 bands, or simply partially obscured. Moving the disorted cursor to some location which causes it to change, corrects the cursor view but the problem recurs. This happens regularly.

Also, when using some fluxbox I sometimes seem to have problems with keystrokes being recognized. This happens very consistently in firefox (latest version) when trying to login to the Pandora.com site. There also seems to be some similar issue in skype (latest version) using the keypad to access voicemail on my cell phone, although it is harder to characterize.

These problems do not happen when using flwm.
These problems happen on both 2.4.1 and 2.5rc2

Perhaps there is a configuration parameter I need to set properly? Any ideas?

Thanks as always.

Cursor corruption is usually a graphics driver bug, or an overheated/shorted graphics card. But since only fluxbox triggers this for you, I'm not too sure.

Maybe adding the -softCursor option to Xvesa will help?
The only barriers that can stop you are the ones you create yourself.
