connecting a smart phone to OS

I just plugged in my smart phone into the USB hub on MB, but the mount tool is not reading it!
Its an Android OS on the phone BTW. Surly should linux not pick that up?

Did you Did you change your phones USB connection mode from
Charging  to  File Transfer?

Did you install any software to support mounting an Android based
phone, such as  simple-mtpfs.tcz  for example?

You might need to ask Google how to use that software.

Also, make sure you are using a USB Data cable, not
a USB Power cable.
