TCL desktop display
« on: Today at 05:12:19 AM »
Hello forum ,

Please can you help me to get the TCL desktop correctly displaying
On my laptop.
Currently, TCL ver 17 64bit boots up to the gui desktop but both
Sides of the gui desktop are missing an INCH of the laptop screen
....its just black screen for 1 inch from each edge of the laptop screen
Before the gui desktop appears.   (Letterboxed)

Clearly this is some aspect ratio or resolution problem or both....i tried boot codes of diiferent
Resolutions with no luck because then while TCL is appearing to be correctly sized with booting
Text , it then fails to start the gui desktop. ( error in wait for x)

Do i need to reach the TCL gui desktop and then load xorg 7.7 ? In 64 bit TCL..?. then restart the x server?
Or Do i need to run xvesa setup or something?

My Aim is to have the TCL gui desktop fill the entire screen.

It is noted that in windows its 1280 by 800 which correctly fills the screen ......whereas 1024 by 768
Reveals the same black edge bars in the windows desktop

1280 by 800 is not a resolution option offered by TCL....it only goes to 1024 by 768

Thx
C

For 64bit tc you have the choice between Xfbdev or Xorg-7.7, there is no 32bit Xvesa.

Xorg-7.7 will usually work without configuration, but Xfbdev may require configuration - see the wiki section on tc boot codes.
