v4l-dvb-6.18.37-piCore-v8.tcz will not download.

Hello!

I have struggled a little with this module now but although it seems to be in the repo it will not download. First it didn't download as a dependency so I tried to download it separately but that didn't work either. So the question is if it is there in the repo or not and if it is why doesn't it download.

Hi Juanito!

I tried to install vlc from the Apps and the GUI disappeared all went black. I rebooted and got back to the prompt where I tried to install vlc using tce-load -wi vlc.tcz it stopped because it couldn't download the module in question. After that I tried to install it separately through Apps but to no avail and there is where I'm at now.

PS Now I just get an error comment when using Apps DS

Loading v4l-dvb-KERNEL will load graphics-KERNEL. If you weren’t already using Xorg-3d this would have the effect of blanking your screen.

I would guess that your download is corrupted. Try deleting v4l-dvb* and using “tce-load -w v4l-dvb-KERNEL”

Thanks for your time. I did exactly as you suggested and the result was just the same error message to the letter, "64 of 64 computed checksumsdid NOT match". So what should I do now? I refuse to start from scratch again so either I use piCore64 13.1.0 or try to fix this one. A funny thing though is that I checked the alsamixer in the old versions of piCore64 I tried and those who worked had HDMI instead of PCM that could be changed. I have also checked other Linux distributions and they have consistently HDMI or MASTER in the alsamixer. I don't know why this changed because piCore64 v. 12 has HDMI  v. 13.1.0 has HDMI and both work with my hardware.

It’s difficult to imagine what has happened to get 64 checksums not matching.

Assuming you connect to the internet via a wired connection:

Remove all extensions from ondemand
Remove all extensions from onboot except openssh
Reboot
Delete all extension files from tce/optional except openssh/openssl/ca-certificates
“tce-load -w v4l-dvb-KERNEL”

If the above works:

“tce-load -w Xorg-3d flwm aterm wbar”
startx

Now I am impressed! I got almost everything back as it shoul be, Now I'll keep working on the sound. The video works but there is no sound yet. I felt kind of excited to remove almost all of my packages for a fresh start. A big thank you!

It’s difficult to imagine what has happened to get 64 checksums not matching. ...

I suppose something like this could cause it:

1. Someone is running piCore version X.
2. They decide to switch to piCore version Y.
3. They reuse the tce directory from piCore version X for piCore version Y.
   or
   They copy the extensions from the old tce directory to the new tce directory.

Either way they will wind up with mismatched MD5s for any extensions that
were updated between version X and version Y.
