... It might be less confusing to just use KERNEL. ...
It would probably be a good way to indicate to manual downloaders
that there is something special about those extensions.
It would also break the Size functions of the command line program
tce and the GUI program apps.
The size function uses the sizelist file to lookup entries from the .tree
file. When it encounters a module file with KERNEL in the name, it
returns Error, not found instead of the file size.
