hello TinyCore Team,

on my good old MacMini from 2006 I have prepared a USBstick with tce 6.4.1 with alsa sound working fine and with firefox-getLatest and all of the tools I need.

My dmesg | grep hda looks like this:

tce6.4.1 on MacMini 2006, sound working fine
dmesg | grep hda
[   39.163924] snd_hda_intel 0000:00:1b.0: irq 43 for MSI/MSI-X
[   39.189955] sound hdaudioC0D0: autoconfig: line_outs=1 (0xc/0x0/0x0/0x0/0x0) type:speaker
[   39.189961] sound hdaudioC0D0:    speaker_outs=0 (0x0/0x0/0x0/0x0/0x0)
[   39.189964] sound hdaudioC0D0:    hp_outs=1 (0xa/0x0/0x0/0x0/0x0)
[   39.189967] sound hdaudioC0D0:    mono: mono_out=0x0
[   39.189969] sound hdaudioC0D0:    dig-out=0x10/0x0
[   39.189972] sound hdaudioC0D0:    inputs:
[   39.189975] sound hdaudioC0D0:      Line=0xf
[   39.189978] sound hdaudioC0D0:    dig-in=0x11

On the same MacMini I have prepared a USBstick with tce 7.2 , extensions installed in the sequence that you gave: Xorg-7.7.tce , alsa.tce , alsa-config.tce omitted, but added firefoxESR.tce to have a sound source.

My dmesg | grep hda looks like this:
tce7.2 on MacMini 2006 sound not working

dmesg | grep hda
snd_hda_codec_idt hdaudioC0D0: autoconfig for STAC9221 A1: line_outs=1 (0xc/0x0/0x0/0x0/0x0) type:speaker
snd_hda_codec_idt hdaudioC0D0:    speaker_outs=0 (0x0/0x0/0x0/0x0/0x0)
snd_hda_codec_idt hdaudioC0D0:    hp_outs=1 (0xa/0x0/0x0/0x0/0x0)
snd_hda_codec_idt hdaudioC0D0:    mono: mono_out=0x0
snd_hda_codec_idt hdaudioC0D0:    dig-out=0x10/0x0
snd_hda_codec_idt hdaudioC0D0:    inputs:
snd_hda_codec_idt hdaudioC0D0:      Line=0xf
snd_hda_codec_idt hdaudioC0D0:    dig-in=0x11

The output of aplay -l is the same with tc 6.4.1 and tc 7.2

aplay -l
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: Intel [HDA Intel], device 0: STAC9221 A1 Analog [STAC9221 A1 Analog]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 0: Intel [HDA Intel], device 1: STAC9221 A1 Digital [STAC9221 A1 Digital]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

Both of this sticks can be used on my old iMac (also running with auxiliary CD to boot) and direct boot from stick on my laptops lenovo and acer with the same results.

With tc 7.2 I the touchpad on both of my laptops does not work, I have to use an external mouse.

Maybe you could try using the xmms extension to select which alsa device to use and try to play an mp3 music file.

With my hardware I get this:
Code: [Select]
$ aplay -l
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: HDMI [HDA Intel HDMI], device 3: HDMI 0 [HDMI 0]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 0: HDMI [HDA Intel HDMI], device 7: HDMI 1 [HDMI 1]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 0: HDMI [HDA Intel HDMI], device 8: HDMI 2 [HDMI 2]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 1: PCH [HDA Intel PCH], device 0: ALC3226 Analog [ALC3226 Analog]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

Check that the master volume is un-muted with alsamixer, then, after starting xmms:

<ctrl P> to get the preferences dialogue
select "Output Plugin"
choose "ALSA 1.2.11 output plugin [libALSA.so]"

click on "configure"
select "Audio device"
My case - "HDA Intel PCH: ALC3226 Analog (hw:1,0)"
Your case - "HDA Intel: STAC9221 A1 Analog (hw:0,0)" [or something like this]
click on "OK"
click on the eject icon and navigate to an mp3 file to play.

Hopefully this will work

For your touchpad, do you get something like this:
Code: [Select]
$ cat /proc/bus/input/devices
...
I: Bus=0011 Vendor=0002 Product=0008 Version=0310
N: Name="AlpsPS/2 ALPS GlidePoint"
P: Phys=isa0060/serio1/input0
S: Sysfs=/devices/platform/i8042/serio1/input/input6
U: Uniq=
H: Handlers=mouse1 event9
B: PROP=9
B: EV=b
B: KEY=e420 70000 0 0 0 0
B: ABS=260800001000003
