Hello,

I have an headset I connected to the soundcard for using skype.
as per "tcl wiki setting_up_sound", I made few works (persistence, blacklisted the snd_usb_audio mic of the webcam).. but no glue where to further work (no input.. no output).
The card is partially working because I can hear things with other OS on my pc like antiX or knoppix.
I dont know how to setup the mic (mic1 or mic2 in alsamixer..).
Has somebody perhaps few links where I can read more how to make the setup with alsamixer?

Are you sure it's a analog headset? That would work here without any further.

if you have reported corrrectly there are no tweaks to the modules as per

Module snd-ens1371
  ------------------

    Module for Ensoniq AudioPCI ES1371 PCI sound cards.
         * SoundBlaster PCI 64
         * SoundBlaster PCI 128
         * SoundBlaster Vibra PCI

    joystick_port   - port # for joystick (0x200,0x208,0x210,0x218),
           0 = disable (default), 1 = auto-detect

    This module supports multiple cards and autoprobe.

    The power-management is supported.

but lets double-check your output to

Code: [Select]
lspci | grep Audio
2) then post your alsamixer picture for all pls

alsamixer -V all

edit...forgive me  if you already have a pic site in mind

you can upload to   with a file name ending in .png or .jpeg /.jpg
http://ompldr.org/         good for ever?

or

http://imagebin.org/index.php?page=add
good for 14 days

click on the png or jpg link and post that using rule as per code box but not in a code box ok?

Code: [Select]

hi

good to see images

MM means mute.....not good at relevant settings

use your right or left arrows to go to each relevant setting and press M to Unmute pls

also some of your volumes are low for output.

and looking at storing those new values as per wiki pls

ie you store the value and you have a persistent file to recover those new settings or values

EDIT (2)

oops forgot to mention that to unmute your input device in alsamixer you press the space bar
and then that volume will show its volume numbers

but in your second image link you have already unmuted but volume is zeroed

2) in second image you have a setting called mic select

arrow to it and press up or down a number times to see what your options are.

If your sound device has only one mic connection it will likely change from mic to line
otherwise it will show front mic....mic...line

good luck

If still probs repost new images pls AFTER a reboot so we know you have successfully stored the values

PS I have not talked about skype at all

I assume you are using the TC way of getting it?

Setup re-done with nearly all button up.
Persistence done as per wiki.
I can hear now from the speaker.
When I speak into the headset now, I hear my voice in the speaker.
"arecord" command works (when I speak in the headset micro, it is recorded, and my voice is coming out of the external speaker).
Remaining issue: I cannot ear with the headset; I can only speak in it (aplay: the noise is coming only out of the external speaker, not to the headset speaker).
Do you know how to change the setup?
Attached are my last settings. http://imagebin.org/153423  and  http://imagebin.org/153424.
Perhaps I should use a radio source (how? which extension?) and play with alsamixer for finding which parameter activate the internal headset-speaker?

Skype: I installed it with a script I found in this forum. And it is on-demand now.
I dont know if this is the "TC way".

here it is:

(cheap.. nothing for a space vessel..).
Seems to be analog.
Speaker is fine.
But I still dont hear anything.

Umm, just to make sure, have you excluded any hardware issue? i.e. does the headset work to satisfaction with any different system?

I tested the HW: headset ear dont work in my snd card (work on my TV).
So, the output seems to be defect in my card (or not activated by SW?) and I will now (when necessary) take the external speaker out of the card and put the ear of my headset. The micro of my headset works.
I can leave with it. Topic closed.

If I were you, at this point I would give OSS a try and see what happens.
