aterm and colors

I'm testing some themes for taskwarrior - a time and task management tool with cli, see also http://taskwarrior.org.

I test in aterm.

I am surprised that "everything" turns gray when I use more than 16 colors (see attachments).

Is this a restriction of aterm?
