« on: March 14, 2011, 07:39:36 AM »
hello
I have TCL on pendrive and I don't remember how to install it.
I found solution on this forum: http://forum.tinycorelinux.net/index.php?topic=344.0
Will this work for me?
Code: [Select]
uname -a
Linux box 2.6.29.1-tinycore #1337 SMP Fri Apr 10 19:12:39 EEST 2009 i686 GNU/linux

if you want to do simple things, you could use HD/USB install from ControlPanel or relative command sudo usbinstall

simple method is ok for me.
my pendrive:
Code: [Select]
fdisk -l
Disk /dev/sda: 8015 MB, 8015282176 bytes
64 heads, 32 sectors/track, 7643 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 2048 * 512 = 1048576 bytes

Device Boot      Start         End      Blocks  Id System
/dev/sda1   *           1          16       16368   4 FAT16 <32M
/dev/sda2              17        7643     7810048   b Win95 FAT32

So installed  using the zip option?
And now, on upgrade tcl maybe I should choose other option?
Maybe ext or hdd?

I used both hd & ext and both work well, it seems that the zip is the best choice for PC is not too new (perhaps it is more compatible on boot).
Basically if you use ext to read the pen on Windows you should install the driver for this purpose, but ext it is better than fat (fat doen't support the owners privileges for examples)

Hi inkscape
Fdisk is showing you have one small bootable FAT partition and a second FAT partition for the rest
of the pendrive, so it looks like you used the ZIP install last time. I don't know if you can upgrade
TCL without updating your apps, but I don't think so since you appear to be running version 2.10.
If you decide to do a fresh install be sure to pull off copies of your data files and any setup files
such as bootlocal.sh, filetools.lst, etc. You will also want a list of installed apps so that you can
install the newer versions. The install process will wipe the pendrive clean so be sure you have
backed up anything you will need later.
