Ibiblio undergoing data migration.
« on: January 17, 2011, 01:48:51 PM »
On January 11, 2011 Ibiblio has moved it's distribution files to another server, rendering us unable to have write access to the repo.  Until access is reestablished, we are unable to process extensions or make changes to any files (.info, .dep, etc.).  Thank you for your patience while this is being resolved.  Reference:

The move has not been completed yet. We do have file access now for small changes (.dep etc).
The only barriers that can stop you are the ones you create yourself.

Any chance the move is causing this?

The move is causing many issues and many issues remain.
Tough decisions now seem likely. We appreciate your patience during this difficult time.
The team and I are considering what will be best for our project and are doing everything we can to return to normal operations as soon as possible.

I am sorry to have to give everyone this update.
Still to this date, 27 Jan, many issues with full access to ibiblio remain.

We are now actively preparing a backup plan to restore normal operations.
We appreciate your patience during this difficult time.

While not 100% as before, we now have a way to access our distribution files.

We have finished new procedures to support posting extensions to the new ibiblio structure. Expect normal extension operations to begin shortly.

Given the recently found issues with the 'ppl.tcz' and 'cloog.tcz' extensions I'd like to suggest to carefully check the correctness of all 3.x extensions against their checksum files and confirm where those differ that neither was falsely copied from the 2.x directory.

[ I'm certainly not going to attempt to sync my private mirror before someone has provided some assurance here that the "coast is clear" in that regard. ;D]

I just did a check of all the md5's and they turn out ok.

Now that we are up and running and I am home from work I will help with catching up with the extension queue tonight.  Once again thanks everyone for your patience.

both cloog and ppl were created for tc-3.x so I doubt there would be an issue with them coming from the tc-2.x repo

Trust me, I compared the files against my private mirror (which I had last updated before the "fun with ibiblio.org" had started) before I posted in this thread. The checksum files of the 3.x repository were unchanged, but the extension files were identical to the ones from the 2.x directory.

Update on round two:
Quote
The migration of www.ibiblio.org and all hosted domains has been
rescheduled for March 15.

Old migration date: Tuesday, March 8
New migration date: Tuesday, March 15

A few things have come to light recently that must be resolved before
migrating to the new ibiblio infrastructure.  Most, if not all, should
be complete by next week.  Rather than risk a delay at the last
minute, however, I've decided to preemptively push the migration date
by a week.  Hopefully, this gives all of you sufficient lead time to
adjust your schedules.  My apologies for the inconvenience.

HI:
Currently there is no access to the repo.
What - if I woulkd need to install cups now?

I think we should make an USB stick and/or a DVD  with a server, the repo as complete personal repo.

What do you think?
t(w)o be(ers) or not t(w)o be(ers) that is the question
