Double 'creating new .Xauthority' message when booting
« on: November 21, 2010, 05:24:26 AM »
When I boot up, after all the extensions have been loaded, the screen clears and a double message about creating new .Xauthority appears on the screen.

Is it supposed to be double? Is it an X thing?

It's the same cookie, but it's added for two names (:0 and hostname:0 IIRC).

Do you think it should not be shown?
The only barriers that can stop you are the ones you create yourself.

None would be best. One would be OK.  Two gives the look of an error.

Same here - I would prefer normally no message, only in case of some error or failure.
