XPDF showing PDF without Text - font problem ?

Hi there,

I recently opened several PDF's, using XPDF for viewing.

The PDFs opened fine, but only the included Images were shown in XPDF, no text.
Tested with several PDFs.

Is that a font problem or do I miss an additional package ?

You may need to install one of the font extensions.

Thanks Jason, but can you recommend a particular font package?
- Dejavu Fonts.
- fontconfig
- liberation-fonts-ttf
- ttf-bitstream-vera

I have only little space (CF-Card), so I don't want to have too many of these packages installed.

ttf-bitstream-vera should work.  It has been a while since I used Xpdf as epdfview is much more capable, but hopefully that will fix it.  Xpdf has almost no dependencies and still displays many pdf's so it does have value.

i had the same problem with a pdf i made using the openoffice extension. thanks for the evidence it's xpdf, not ooo, maybe now i can view those pdf's with xpdf, too.

mine was generated by ooo in tc... in was just some text and an image. only epdfview showed the text, both epdfview and xpdf showed the image.
