Autodetect home
« on: July 30, 2010, 07:20:08 AM »
Hi!

It would be nice if TC could autodetect a persistent home during boot the same way it detects tce-drives. Is there a way to do this in current? If not, consider it a feature request. :)

Would do more harm than good IMO.

Consider that many of our users run several distros, it's often wanted that TC doesn't touch the HD unless told to. Scanning for /home would bring a lot of false positives.
The only barriers that can stop you are the ones you create yourself.

At least any present /home/tc directory could be detected (autodetect could be turned off with a boot option).

Is there a way to use an autodetected tce as home?

Why force the majority of users add a boot option to turn it off, when the minority can use a boot option to set home?

I my mind it would be a good feature, but I might be wrong. If it is bad for the majority then just ignore it.
