Screen problem on DELL SX260
« on: June 08, 2010, 10:29:44 AM »
Hi all,

I own a spare DELL SX260 but I have strong display problem with it : it seems its graphical card is not correctly handled.

When I let the CD booting, I got a screen with a very large screen resolution : I don't think my screen like it because it display a very dark image.

xsetup don't help as it only propose 640x480x16  ???

So, any help is welcome.

Thanks

Laurent

PS: I tried also lot of other distrib and the result is very bad. Some of them propose only 640x480x16 screen (TC, Slitaz, ...). It was working with Ubuntu's Karmic, but with Lucid, graphical problems make the machine crashing  :o I understand now why the user guide prevent people to install non-EOM windows on it  ;)

Another Dell, likely Intel graphics?

Installing Xorg should solve the issue.
The only barriers that can stop you are the ones you create yourself.

Try using the framebuffer (xfbdev). see:
