As an alternative, there is a wiki article on Splashy

This article doesn't show up in wiki start page.

So the article may be nearly impossible to find for newcomers, if they don't use Google but try to use wiki itself.

Here again the link: click.

Sure, but I'm talking of a newcomer. How will you get that newcomer read just this single post of yours, that he may learn TC wiki neither shows all important articles in its content page nor has got a search feature really working.

Naturally you an me, we know, but its the newcomer who has to be addressed.

I would argue that someone incapable of using search engines and navigating wiki menus has bigger problems to deal with.  ;)

Navigating ???

You mean converting people into scrolling robots who never stop before reading the very last line of an endless list?

How much people will do so? 1% - 10% - 50% - 100% - what's your estimation?

I think it's just the other way round.

A wiki incapable to present its content in a way not only you and me but 95% of newcomers find at once what they are searching for, such a wiki is wasting the precious working time of its authors. :(

Tiny Core is barely a year old. As such, some areas will lack the spit and polish that users migrating from more established distros may be accustomed to.

Your best bet for improving TC and making it more accessible to newcomers is to implement the changes you would like to see.

AFAIK, wiki contributions are welcome from anyone who registers for an account.

Yea, lets do so.

Let's stop treating newcomers as idiots when they run into problems.

Let's try always to help them finding what they are searching for.
