compiz gnome depends on compiz gtk window decorator which needs gnome headers to build so it has to wait
also compiz 0.9 is new which means it is untested, probably buggy and no other linux distro is updated to 0.9 yet. As a conclusion for good of everyone, and me it has to wait :)

compiz 0.9.x is unstable branch and a complete rewrite of 0.8.x to C++ which will be 0.10.x stable in time so 0.8.4 will be main compiz version for Tiny Core till a stable 0.10.x is released

Xlibs_support

I notice that there is no Xlibs_support extension for 3.x, and the maintainer (jpeters) hasn't been around since January. Does anyone want to adopt this?

Doesn't Xorg-7.5-lib serve the same purpose?

VirtualBox Guest additions
« Reply #324 on: September 10, 2010, 01:08:48 PM »
I PM'ed kingdomcome (the maintainer the 2.x VBox guest additions) a week or so ago, and haven't heard anything, but it's possible that he's on vacation or something. In any case, something for 3.x would be greatly appreciated for running TinyCore within VBox.

Tinycore linux is an easy distro to boot, and very fast. I am in need to boot tinycore on one machine that has its flashrom populated with coreboot and filo as its payload, remove the chip while the computer is running and then insert a bad chip to reflash it. To do that I need coreboot, paylod and filo. All three are available via subversion.

but I guess many more packages are needed to build coreboot, paylod and filo under tinyCoreLinux.
Can tinycore provide the necessary software in order to build the three + flashrom?

thanks for any answers

svn, compiletc, libftdi are available.
The only barriers that can stop you are the ones you create yourself.

Hi, I would like to see flashrom in the repository of extentions. Is it feasible to have one?

svn co svn://coreboot.org/flashrom/trunk flashrom

It is a popular (and new) utility to flash your BIOS chip in the motherboard. Available for these:
  Installation of binary packages

    * Debian: sudo aptitude install flashrom
    * Ubuntu: sudo aptitude install flashrom
    * Fedora: sudo yum install flashrom
    * Gentoo: emerge flashrom
    * Mandriva: urpmi flashrom
    * openSUSE: yast -i coreboot-utils

Thanks a lot
