How to use recordmydesktop with flwm?
« on: October 06, 2009, 05:16:02 PM »
Just for a little fun today I tried out "recordmydesktop". It works quite well on my system after loading xorg, jwm and the agp graphics extension. I'm wondering if there is a way to get it to work on flwm. The "recordmydesktop" extension uses the window manager tray to provide the control functions (start, stop and pause).  I don't remember if there is a tray that can be added to flwm?

edit: I know we have flit but I am assuming that it is not general purpose.

You are correct, and I don't plan to work on integrating that.  :-\

If you study how it integrates with the "big" WMs and describe it here, maybe someone can come up with a solution.

I'm surely going beyond my area of expertize here, but what do think about "trayer" or "peksystray" or  "Xystray"?

They might not work, since flwm is not EWMH/NETWM compliant. But I'm not sure about that, since not one of them mentions this as necessary, unlike the panels. Xsystray would probably fit best, being no-deps in a TC environment.

edit: The command-line version could be used as well.

The only barriers that can stop you are the ones you create yourself.
