Dbus-glib error message at boot
« on: September 21, 2009, 08:36:27 AM »
Hi all!

I am trying out the last cut of tinycore (2.4rc1). When the extensions are mounted during bootup I get an error message that there is a librery missing. Firefox works fine though so I don't know if this only is a "cosmetic" error message or if it has to do with the new rc of tinycore. I wasn't sure where to post this but decided for the extensions part of the forum. Thanks for all your work to make tinycore progress.

Have fun,
meo

If you add the boot option of pause
it will stop the screen so you can see the error message.
Providing the exact error message will be most helpful.

If you have the latest dbus.tczl extension in /tce to load at boot, you will also need to have an expat2 extension and dbus.tczl.dep in /tce.

This is because the start-up script /usr/local/tce.installed/dbus will try to start the dbus daemon on boot and this will fail if the expat library is not yet loaded. If dbus.tczl.dep is not present, the extensions will load in alphabetical order, if dbus.tczl.dep is present, then expat2 will load before dbus.

..of course the problem might be something else entirely

Hi Juanito!

I think that you are quite right in what you are saying. There is no dbus.tzcl.dep file. I thought of the expat-extension to but this one is present. So what can I do to straight this out? Thanks for your posts and attention to the matter.

Have fun polishing on the new cut of tinycore,

Hi again!

I gave the matter some thought and then made a file with beaver named expat2.tczl.dep witch only contained "expat2.tczl" and put it in the repo and now at boot i don't get any error messages. So really it was a simple thing. Thanks for your help solving it.

Assuming you're using PPR/TCZ mode, then it's just a question of downloading http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/tinycorelinux/2.x/tcz/dbus.tczl.dep, placing it in /tce and rebooting.

That seems strange, what extensions do you have in /tce?

Hi Juanito!

I have quite some extensions that I have downloaded today. I started from scratch with the new tinycore 2.4rc1. I usually start with mounting beaver and emelfm. Links follows as do firefox, gimp2, abiword and it's plugins, firewall, iptables, wireshark, john, lxterminal and xmms. Those are the ones (give or take a few).

Have fun extending the boundaries of tinycore,
