cannot start application
« on: August 27, 2009, 11:04:24 AM »
Hi,
I'm new to TC and have a problem.
I have installed both gimp and firefox, running in PPI mode.
However, from command line, I cannot start either of the two. No error message, but the application wouldn't pop up.
why is that?
Also, no icons at all of my new installed applications.
Oh yeah, I am running TC on a virtualbox machine.
thanks,
mirko

check /usr/local/bin or /usr/local/firefox-official
if there no files from gimp or firefox then it still not installed yet.
fun and fearless ...

just to add my 2 cents: like minefield, firefox does not automatically symlink to /usr/local/bin, so in aterm, you have to give the full path; example with minefield:

$ /usr/local/firefox/firefox

Actually, firefox.tce/tcz does create a symlink /usr/local/bin/firefox -> /usr/local/firefox/firefox.  And since not seeing an icon, there must be other issues at work.
