Wine for Core Plus with FLWM.
« on: June 04, 2025, 12:03:31 PM »
Hello everyone,

I've been trying last week to install Wine in my TCL Plus and run in lots of issues, mainly my Xorg and FLWM stopped working. I tried with the package installation with boot and on demand (first one crashed after reboot and the other one didn't load), tried downloading and repacking.... Well, I wasn't able to do it, even thought I tried. If someone could share a .tcz , preferably with dependencies packed in it, I would really appreciate that. I don't know if this is something that just I'm experiencing but I tried in another computer and ha the same problem.

Thanks and best regards,

Are you trying to load and run the wine extension from the repo?

Juanito, I'm using the instalation tool and tce-load -i or -wi depending of what Im trying (installing directly or unsquashing and repacking, tried both). If you could share your wine or help I would appreciate.

I’ll be away from a computer for a few days yet, so I can’t check, but I’d guess wine needs Xorg-7.7-3d?

Yes, it needs Xorg-7.7. I'm not sure about this, but I believe that the problem starts when all dependencies are downloaded, it starts a conflict between Xorg and XVesa.

Have you tried without loading Xvesa?

You should probably read this:

Juanito, thanks for sharing. I will read it. Even thought I'm learning this will take time and I still don't know if I will be able to create the extension, I've been putting a lot of effort in this for the last 10 days just to get to dead ends. It would really be of great help if someone could be so kind to share a compatible wine.tcz with the dependencies (or share a script or something).

Thanks,

Why do you want to create the extension when one already exists?

Could you please share this extension? When I try to download through Apps it doesn't work (my machine stops when I reboot), repacking I didn't manage to do it, I didn't manage to find anything for download here in the forum either, that's why I created this post.

Hello Rich, thanks for helping!

uname -r:
6.12.11-tinycore

showbootcodes:
BOOT_IMAGE=/tce/boot/vmlinuz quiet tce=vda1 swapfile=vda1 home=vda1 opt=vda1 local=vda1 vga=789 waitusb=5:UUID="4163c1b4-0c73-403e-a396-83d7f9da6aa1" tce=UUID="4163c1b4-0c73-403e-a396-83d7f9da6aa1" initrd=/tce/boot/core.gz

I installed wine to show you the errors.

First Image shows the info you asked.
Second Image, those gray messages didn't appear before installation (when on the App tool and added through there). If I add with OnBoot option it kind of works before turning the machine off, than it gives these messages. If I select OnDemand option it doesn't work at all.
Third Image, where it stops. I tried many things before, like downloading and checking Xorg, tried to configure Xvesa and configuring it, etc. without success.

I would appreciate you help.

In order to troubleshoot, I would suggest setting only the following extensions “onboot”:

Xorg-7.7
flwm
aterm
wbar

..then reboot and hopefully the gui will start.

Next, open a terminal window and enter the following:
Code: [Select]
tce-load -i wine
wine

..and report back what happens.
