I see your avatar is missing, was that a recent upload?
No. I do not remember having set up for an avatar and therefore I switched my profile to "No avatar".

after reading:

followed wiki link from above noted forum post:

saw that webpage was last updated October 17th, 2018 as per "Last_modified" notation at page_bottom

given that many wiki pages are dated, perhaps the welcome page could offer a caution of some sort regarding the potential for outdated information/instructions/etc

just a humble observation

more humble personal note: family and community commitments preclude my participation in wiki updating at the present moment in time.

begging the (rhetorical)
which `modern servers/software` ?!

afaik that would (likely) be a configuration detail !?..

which will likely be
unfortunate for any one with an (vvv)old browser or the wrong time/certs :-\

It can probably be solved through configuration, I’ll look at it if I get time.  Using ssl should not be a big deal.

Another vote from me for allowing unencrypted connections to the forum. Using SSL on old or underpowered computers can be a big deal, and disabling HTTPS redirects at a web server shouldn't be.

It looks like the forum's web server software is Nginx configured using Plesk. This guide might be helpful to change the HTTPS redirect setting.

Transparent proxy http-> https would allow many people to use old browsers for long time.

Its not necessarily the web server inherently, Its how it all works together.  The forum software has two options.  Disable SSL/Force SSL.  Its getting both to work.   A transparent proxy is an interesting option.

For various reasons, we need to upgrade to SMF 2.1.x. That is my next task.
I will look at options for http when I get some time.

Hi neonix
... I tried to login to forum using opera12 and dillo-beta.tcz and no luck.
You should have been able to log in to the Wiki.
I just created a new user, and once the account was activated, he
was able to log in to the Wiki. While he could log in, he can not edit
anything unless I add him to the  Wiki Author  group.

So if you really could not log in, it's probably a browser issue.

Wiki log-in (read-only) is working for me with the x86_64 dillo.tcz extension for TC15. It's allowed to store cookies by my ~/.dillo/cookiesrc settings, which is probably important.

Eventually I'd like to make an index for scripts submitted in the "Programming & Scripting - Unofficial" section of the forum, so @Rich I'd like Wiki write access for that eventually. I probably won't do anything right away though.

That was quick! Yes, "Edit" buttons are showing up there now. Thanks!
