The links for downloading version 3.x and below are missing.
I managed to get hold of an old version eventually, but then the mirrors are pointing at distro.ibilio.org/tinycorelinux, which apparently doesn't have any files for 3.x.
Is this a misconfiguration? Or is there an alternative mirror with files for 3.x? All the mirrors on the current site are also 404 for 3.x versions and below.

Hi jamthief
Welcome to the forum.
Please read this announcement:

Ah. Thanks. I don't suppose you could point me in the direction of someone that has it available for download? I need something running with the 2.6 linux kernel... tiny core would be the perfect fit!
-
Hi jamthief
I created a backup of 3.x before it was removed.
What specifically are you looking for?
-
If you have a copy that has buildchain tools, git, and linux kernel headers already on it, that would be perfect. If not I can make do with whatever you do have!
Tiny core is perfect for -- and in some cases, already used for -- building and running the NVIDIA memory diagnostic tool, MATS. It's a command line utility that makes use of a custom kernel module. I plan to make a tiny core image that boots into text mode and then I'll shuffle things so it runs the tool immediately on startup. Unfortunately though for this particular old version of the tool all I have is the source code and it needs an old kernel.
Thanks so much!

Hi jamthief
I take it you are already familiar with how Tinycore works.
If not, take the time to read this fine book:
http://tinycorelinux.net/book.html
If you have a copy that has buildchain tools, git, and linux kernel headers ...
I've gathered the following and all of their dependencies:
compiletc
git-2.6 and git-gui
linux-headers-2.6.33.3-tinycore
Copy the .tcz, .tcz.dep, and .tcz.md5.txt files to your tce/optional directory.
I included the .tcz.info files because they sometimes include useful information.
Both ISO files:
microcore_3.8.4.iso (text based)
tinycore_3.8.4.iso (GUI based)
Patched kernel source files:
config-2.6.33.3-tinycore (Kernel config file)
linux-2.6.33.3-patched.tbz2 (Kernel sources)
sorter.sh (Used to gather kernel modules if rebuilding kernel)
Download the TC3.x tree found here:
http://tinycorelinux.net/4.x/jamthief/
The attached TC3.txt file has a complete tree listing of whats included.
You may find you require some additional dependencies and
or -dev files to complete your build.
Let me know when you've downloaded the files so I can clean up.

Hi Rich
Confirming I've downloaded those files.
This is excellent. Thank you for all the effort you've gone to here. I'll post back when I've made some progress!
-
Hi jamthief
If you get a build error that states something like:
error: xyz not found
Search the TC3.x/provides.db file for xyz to see which package provides it.
-
Thanks - will do.
Did tc-install exist for 3.x? I believe I'll need it eventually, but if not - maybe the version in 4.x works?
-
Hi jamthief
Copied tc-install for 3.x to TC3.x/tcz/
I also included info.lst to TC3.x/tcz/ which is a list of
all TC3 packages.

ahhh, so that's what the jamthief folder is...
I've been writing/testing some scripts to check repo for unexpected data... That is assuming someone would be willing to do something with that information (if yes, should i bulk them, where do i post them, should i try to include commands for copy paste (and should they be from the root of the repo?)).
I made a big zip file that contains the entire v3.x repo (excluding zsync files), but otherwise an exact faithful copy with correct file dates etc. I still have to upload it to archive.org, then i will post the link (and another that i have found (which is a lower quality in terms of things like dates and such)) on the retirement thread. The nice thing about the zip would be that archive.org allows to browse the zip (heck even link to files IN the zip), such that folk don't need to download the ~13GiB zip file.
All I need to do is create an account and somewhere find a temp machine with sufficient space to upload it...

Hi Dies Irae
The syslinux posts are off topic in this thread. They have
been split off into their own thread here:

Hi Dies Irae
ahhh, so that's what the jamthief folder is...
The jamthief folder is temporary. I placed it there to
supply forum member jamthief with any files he needs
to get TC3 up and running. Once that is done, the folder
will be deleted.
