microSD card

Hello there Foum,

sorry to bother the forum but i was just wondering something about Laptops  (generally)

my laptop here has TWO hidden slots.........one is for a MicroSD card and the other is for a SIM card.

it's clear from the BIOS that the machine will boot off a microSD card.
So i expect that the machine
wil also just SEE the microSD card as an internal DRIVE right?   (say 32 gigs).............so i presume
you could just use it as a sort of hard drive then?

Are it's speeds similar to USB 2.0  since i could also boot
from USB right......

You should see the microSD as /dev/mmcblk*

I guess the speed depends on the interface and the card quality. There is also reliability to think about.

i think perhaps bootloader/hw driver might also have impact 

+ *some more low level hw* must connect the sd to the laptop/pc
how that is configured / acessed likely will have some impact

definitely buyer-beware, buyer-be-aware, and always do maximum permissable due-diligence

I fully agree with Juanito. I made my own (bad) experiences with SD-cards
