talk : (Guix) as a tool for computational science
« on: October 02, 2022, 10:40:40 PM »

  8) hi *

after a bit of digital hiatus
iv found the time to tray and catch up on stuff an things
one of which is this ( most interesting ! ) talk ( titled "Guix as a tool for computational science" )
... many of the example cases and the conclusions drawn from observing there use in various environments
wrt environment reproducibility and isolation ( relevant  imho to building and packaging tcz extensions , and many other things )
are indeed enlightening about the potential use(s) of guix

 link : https://10years.guix.gnu.org/video/guix-as-a-tool-for-computational-science/

...
iv had some success running guix on tc (and other os's )
eg http://forum.tinycorelinux.net/index.php/topic,22443.msg140612.html#msg140612

it would be nice if the official installer had some sort of options to support "live" environments

as mentioned in the other thread most of the deps to run the guix-install where available as tcz ( at least when last i checked)

as guix packages store eg:/gnu/store requires some persistent storage  ( much like /etc/sysconfig/tcedir/ )
