palemoon won't open
« on: August 02, 2018, 11:01:20 AM »
I'm using TinyCore 9.0, 32bit. When I try to open Palemoon I get the error: "Illegal instruction".

Hi saladin
That means that your CPU encountered an instruction that it does not support. If you look at the info file:
http://tinycorelinux.net/9.x/x86/tcz/palemoon.tcz.info
it states:
Quote
Comments:       Requires ffmpeg for h.264 playback.
                            Requires an SSE2 capable CPU.

My guess is that your CPU does not support  SSE2. Take a look in  /proc/cpuinfo  and see if it lists  SSE2  in the  flags  section.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure you're right about that being the problem. This was a low-end computer ten years ago.

So Firefox won't work, Palemoon won't work, Opera claims there's a network error, Dillo won't access my email, and I want a GUI. Trying Chromium now, but is there anything else that might work?

Hi saladin
Open the  Apps  utility. Click  Apps->Cloud(Remote)->Browse.  Change the  Search  drop down to  Tags.  Type  browser  in the
text field to the right of where it says  Tags  and hit  Enter.  That should give you a list of all the available browsers.
