pdf Problems?

You can't escape pdf these days, with the domination by the.
"arty folks" who now need 24-bits for the quote-char.

The frugal aim of TC would be lost by installing a full X11?
So I just fetched ghostscript.tcz 8003584 & dependants.
I'm confused that:
  tc@box:~$ which ghostscript
  tc@box:~$ which gs
  /usr/local/bin/gs
How/Why does it change it's name?

But the main problem is that you can't zoom or even scroll it,
like the <proper> ghostscript. It seems to be gv: merely the
 <preViewer>.
.
  gs -g640x480 <FileName.pdf> sets the frameSize OK.
..
And related: I must have <pdf to text>.
How do other users manage? Please advise.

Why would you want to escape?  PDF format was designed to maintain the layout as it's creator intended across any platform or media.

I don't think the two are related.  The kernel, TC and file system are complete in just two files providing the base to build on and the ability to create a system supporting your specific hardware and tasks.   The frugal concept remains intact and serves to accommodate other applications and libraries.   Besides, we install other applications so why not X11.  All required X11 deps are contained within one directory not scattered across the drive(s).   If your hardware requires proprietary drivers and X11 for the best performance,  that's what you use.   Why buy all this hardware and not use the performance available, that's crazy talk! right? 

How do other users manage? Please advise.

We use the right tools for the job.
evince is the handler for locally stored pdf's
and firefox automatically displays online pdf documents, but if you point it to a local pdf that works great too.

X11 is NOT an app. It is a system.
TC-<writers> inability to accnowledge the STRUCTURE of X11 & VT being
2 alternate SYSTEMS, seems related to their inability to recognise the
difference between a DIRECTORY and a FILE, and also their quirk of
giving only one VT by default.
---Slackware's <list of parts> which can be selected, with X devided
into even 2 parts AFAIR also acknowledges the extra layer of capability,
overhead, potential problem of X11.
--Of course I must admit that the default <Fbdev> that I've decided to
try to use IS the extra layer.
Today I was happy to find that after many years of shitty http:gmail,
TC's opera-12 can do IMAP, also it manages NNTP.
With training the default <Fbdev>'s menu is managable.
It would be better if the TC-writers ADMITTED that it's quirky.
