Reducing battery "eatage" in TCL

I have an Acer Aspire 5820TG notebook with TC and Windows installed alongside.
I'm using TC mostly for surfing, mailing, from month to months porting of applications.
I wonder how can one make power consumption shorter on Tiny Core Linux.

Whenever i look at how my Android phone, which i tweaked, uses battery in a minute a question appears, how do they do it?

How do other linuxes reduce battery usage?
What tricks i need to use to achieve my goal?
Maybe you have any tips or you can refer me to some documentation i could read?

You could try  cpufreqd.tcz  and/or  cpufrequtils.tcz  to lower the CPU frequency. It might also be worth taking a look at
laptop-mode-tools.tcz.

The screen is one of the bigger power consumers on a laptop, reduce the brightness some, your eyes will thank you.

If you have more than 1 Gigabyte of RAM, consider spinning down your drives after 5 minutes of inactivity. Some laptops have
settings for this in the BIOS. Or you could do it using  laptop-mode-tools.tcz.  You would also want to disable any swap files
and swap partitions.

If your laptop has both wired and wireless NICs, see if the BIOS allows you to disable the one you don't use. I think wired
NICs tend to use much less power than wireless.
