Newbie: Just got it installed on old laptop..Is there a guide to progress ?

I wanted to install it on my hard disc and the guide for that was brilliant !

Normally I try and get icons onto the Desktop for easy access.

Most of my activity is developing Arduino software etc.

Is there a way of installing the Arduino IDE ?

The arduino source is available so you should be able to compile it for tinycore

Installing the Arduino software on Tiny Core isn't difficult - at least I did it without too much difficulty. 

But getting it to actually -work- was a bit vexing... I don't have it in front of me to look up exactly where, but somewhere in the Arduino stuff is a shell script that is hard coded to use bash.  The error message produced when bash is not present isn't all that helpful (a generic "file not found", or something like that), but before you pull your hair out try loading bash.tcz and see if that helps.

the fifth browser extension might be better on an old laptop, but you can use the firefox-ESR, firefox_getLatest or firefox-official extensions

Do I go into terminal and type:-

sudo asp-get install firefox-ESR  ?

probaly got that wrong but got to start somewhere.

Use the  Apps  utility. It's the icon that looks like a screw head with a down arrow on it.

I think I must have put the wrong version onto my Hard Disc.

I have Ethernet connected to the laptop and when I click on Apps I get :-

ezremaster
Terminal
WiFi

So which version should I have selected?

The very helpful responses are always very greatly appreciated.

Once the  Apps  utility came up, did you click the  Apps  button, then  Cloud->Browse

I put the CD in and booted from that, and I got the apps , cloud , browse to work.  I searched for firefox and clocked 'set'

I'll l00k ate the book you recommended.

You need to install it before you can install persistent apps.
