Nano-X
« on: May 26, 2015, 10:03:51 AM »
Hello,

I downloaded the Core-current.iso and booted into it. I'd like to experiment a bit with installing and using Nano-X (instead of X11) on top of the Core base system. Does anyone have any experience or can provide any tips (steps) on how to do this?

Thank you,
Adrian

Indeed the project seems inactive though I think it was a good idea. Anyway, now I got the Xvesa and its dependencies. If I make a custom change in the flwm source code, what would be the steps to recompile, obtain a tcz package from it, install and use that new package?

Thanks.

Is it possible to ressurect this project by adding full X11 compatibility, and replace Xvesa/Xfbdev that has some limitations?

NanoLinux was a distro based on Tiny Core using NanoX.

I've tried NanoX, you can build it to actually run a display window in Xorg/Xvesa for testing. Many/most programs need at least a little tweaking to compile/work with it (at least if they don't use FLTK). All programs or their graphics toolkit libraries need to be compiled against its version of xlib to work with it. It's not a drop-in replacement for Xvesa.
