hello
i am running a CD disc version of TCL 4.3.1 virgin system
i followed the FAQ and started using the Framebuffer X driver
called Xfbdev.tcz
When this boots up it seems fine, but i notice that Xvesa
is also installed on the system. Why?...
Top tells me the system has 217 megs of free ram and 36 megs
used up.
i then istalled OSS sound ....which it states is just 1.52 megs
with it's deps. After this i see that top is now showing
177 megs of free ram. WHy has OSS used 40 megs of ram to run?
Is that what it needs?
Is TOP really a good way of seeing what available ram your
system currently has?
One more question below. PLease.
When i was using TCL with traditional
Xvesa last week, i often found it very handy to re-set the system
by dropping to the prompt and restarting X. This seemed to refresh
the entire TCL system. What is the equivalent move when you
are in the framebuffer?
Thanks
V.
