Bug with ssd's
« on: June 11, 2009, 07:20:36 AM »
Not sure if this qualifies as "bug"

I am using tinycore V2.
When using a solid state harddisk (ocz vertex 120Gb),
I noticed that when you have alot of data transfer to the disk and to memory, various system will freeze.
I've tried it on several differend machines with totally different hardware except the ssd.

When you replace the ssd disk for a normal one, all works fine.
I do not have a clue why this is happening.
it only goes wrong when loading the memory and the ssd disk at the same time.

Is it a complete freeze or one that only lasts for some seconds?

Most of the early SSDs suffer from the intermittent freezes, no matter which OS. They have badly designed controllers. I thought though that the Vertex was clear of these.
The only barriers that can stop you are the ones you create yourself.

No it is a complete freeze, and stays that way.
I have discovered, that when i am using the compatibility mode in the bios, everything works fine, and keeps working.
