Best way to edit core.gz with out any error

Is there any way to edit core.gz with any GUI program.
Because when i use cpio to extract or pack core.gz some time its work and some time its not work for me.
is there any problem with pc because in my office pc when i use cpio then my core.gz work fine but at home pc not

I didn't try, but I guess file-roller would work.

Otherwise you could use cpio to extract the archive, use a gui file manager to edit the files and use cpio to archive the files.

This script was designed to accomplish the task of unpacking and repacking of core.gz, sorry I never created an extension with it although I guess I still could
