The dCore-5.13.12.06 iso appears to work (it's what I'm posting from now). However, when I downloaded the dCore.gz file to USB and tried to boot, there was an error message about (IIRC) 3.8.10 not being found and the boot hung while loading extensions.

Thane -  there has been a kernel update to 3.8.13, you need to download the new vmlinuz in addition to dCore.  I should have mentioned that more explicitly, I have updated the announcement.

hi jason w,

could you please tell me for what purpose are the sce-packages in the repository http://tinycorelinux.net/5.x/x86/sce/ ?
are they provided for a manually download?
are they automatically used with the help of the command importsce?
one one side we could manually download firmware.sce,
on the other side we could fetch several firmeware-xxxxx-packages with importsce.

what are the differences or what do you recommend?

thank you for your hints and your help.

That directory is deprecated, I have been intending to remove it.  Everything is done with importsce.   I will remove the old sce directory now to prevent confusion, thanks.

Thanks, Jason W. I mounted the ISO and copied over both dCore.gz and vmlinuz to the USB stick and it worked after that.

hi jason w,

yesterday i did sucessfully a fresh import of all my packages,
afterwards importupdatecheck told me that fluxbox needs an update.
so i deleted my fluxbox-data.tar.gz, fluxbox-data.tar.gz.md5.txt and fluxbox_1.3.2-4_i386.deb and
did again "importsce -s -f mydesktop.sce".
today my importupdatecheck told me again that fluxbox needs an update.

are there so many updates to fluxbox or is there a little bug?
i ask for that cause fluxbox was a very static package without that many updates in the past... ;)

It sounds like a bug in importupdatecheck, fluxbox was last updated in Debian on May 2012.  I will look at it tonight.

Is that the only package in the sce that is saying there is an update available?

Is that the only package in the sce that is saying there is an update available?

tc@box:~/.TCE/sce$ importupdatecheck mydesktop
#################### 100.0% 0.0 kBps DONE
verifying download...checksum matches OK
used 9943040 local, fetched 0
Using mirror: http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian
Checking for updated deb packages, please be patient..
Checking for updated dCore startup scripts, please be patient..
No packages inside mydesktop.sce have available updates.
fluxbox
The above packages have updated dCore custom startup scripts, import mydesktop again to get them.

yes, fluxbox is the only one.

Ok, thanks for the info, it is the startup script that is not being compared right.  The comparison routine is a little bit tricky since the startup scripts are modified during import before being packed into the sce.  Hopefully I can correct it tonight.

Turns out it was not a bug in the importupdatecheck routine, but rather a startup script was contained in the fluxbox-data.tar.gz file on the server, which is a no no.

The data file has been corrected, should work now.

No, if you are having no issues with fluxbox, then no need to re import it.
