Isn't this error simply caused by syslinux not being loaded?  I've seen that same issue, iirc resolved it by loading the syslinux extension perhaps manually or via onboot

importing dCore-install merges Debian syslinux which is at /usr/bin.
The dCore-install script adjusted. Please re-import dCore-install
