Hi

Just to let you know there is a epdfview "printer" file in TC 4.x repo but AFAIK that works to create a pdf file from something and not print to paper.

As it may be some time before I recompile epdfview to add in cups support, in the meantime users could, if they can afford the download and bloat?...use firefox (v 22 or higher) to either view or print to paper PDF files

thanks for reading

Discovered by accident. But its in the Edit -> preferences -> applications .....shows pdf stuff

Re: epdfview problem? [SOLVED] are you really sure?

hi friends,

i use epdfview under xvesa in a very barebone-fluxbox-environment and the former epdfview-versions worked for me without any problems for a long time. i used epdfview also for printing and i wasn't able to see any difference between epdfview and epdview-cups...

these are my experiences:
in the actual epdfview 0.1.8.1. the selection of text for copying doesn't work properly anymore.
the selection is unreadable grey on grey, also the text-marker doesn't show the marked area of the text correctly.
the copy mode works without flaw.

in the former epdfview-cups 0.1.7 the selection is readable white on black and the selected text is marked as expected :)
probably the dep-file is not complete, because i have to load cups manually...

thank you for your help.

yes maybe I specifically mentioned grabbing text in the info file. epdfview-cups is not my baby, but has diff depends extras of
Quote
shared-mime-info.tcz
      glib2.tcz
         libffi.tcz
      libxml2.tcz
         liblzma.tcz

edit, those extra depends for epdfview-cups....I already had...I use LXDE2 but don't hold that against me.

Yes that text selection works correctly for me as well.
So it must be the build depend and not the actual loading depends.

2) You could always mod your dep file for epdfview-cups to add cups?
That maintainer was here in August 2012 so not sure if he is still active with TC.

I can't see his build but thats my problem if I ever rebuild my package.

3) I assume you can print with his package once cups is loaded?

EEK!

trying a rebuild to see if I was truly missing a build dep and
Code: [Select]
cat config.log | grep error
configure:3050: error: /bin/bash ./config.sub cat failed

Should I "unsolve" this for now?

edit: Going ahead. Sorry, I'll have only limited internet access for the next few days and may not be able to follow-up on this.

hi aus9, hi friends,

I am no longer with TC, use whatever you can.

i´m not sure whether i understand you proberly:
do you mean that you want to leave the tc-communitiy?
it´s a pitty that you leave epdfview in the version 0.1.8.1 in that condition!
if you don´t want to contribute further efforts for that package, i would prefer the former version 0.1.7 in the rep!!!
this version was stable for my daily work.

thank you for your help and all your contributions.

hi gutmensch,

thank you for the "restored" version 0.1.7...
everything works fine despite of a small dependency:
i guess that there is an open dependency for libavahi.tcz!?

thank you for your fast reply and friendly support :)
