controlling laptop fans?
« on: January 04, 2013, 11:24:51 PM »
So I'm running into an interesting problem running tinycore on my current laptop (Acer TravelMate 5740G) that I haven't seen under windows or Ubuntu - The laptop's fans seem to stop spinning when the laptop is idle, and then never start spinning again, resulting in the laptop getting almost too hot to touch. Anyone seen anything like this, or have any ideas on things I can look into?

Thanks for the link. Unfortunately, the only thing lm_sensors turns up is a temperature monitor, so i guess I'm out of luck.

I also may have been mistaken about not noticing it on ubuntu - I've always had it on a cooling pad when in ubuntu.
