wbar doesn't move when desktop resolution changes
« on: December 13, 2012, 09:09:27 AM »
If I'm running TC in a VM, wbar starts at the bottom middle as expected, but when I resize the VM window the desktop resolution changes but the bar doesn't follow the bottom middle and stays where it started. I didn't see a way to change this behavior in any of the wbar scripts or config files. wbar version is 2.3.0. Maybe an enhancement for wbar to monitor screen size changes and reposition itself is needed?

What happens if you exit to prompt and restart desktop?

That (resizing the screen live) almost never happens in normal setups, only on vmware/virtualbox, so any such default would be pure overhead for most users.

If hidden behind an option it would be ok to me.

BTW: try right-clicking wbar after a resize.

Exiting to a prompt and restarting X reverts the display back the initial desktop size specified in xorg.conf (I'm using Xorg 7.6 to use the xf86 vmware driver and vmmouse), so I'm basically starting over. Right clicking on the bar does move it to the bottom, but it is then on a black background and the rollover graphics don't work as expected.  Also, the right click trick is only useful when making the screen larger. If you make it smaller, then it's hidden and you can't right click on it to reposition it. I have it set to top left for now so it's not that I can't use it, I'm just thinking "now that I have my homemade vmware client tools extension working, it sure would be nice if wbar stayed in the bottom middle of the screen".  So, yes, this is a low priority "option for auto reload on resolution change" enhancement request.

Hi andyj
Try this:
Make your window smaller so wbar disappears.
Right click on the desktop and go to  SystemTools->WbarConf
When the wbar applet pops up, click the  Apply  button.
Is the wbar centered again?

The black bg sounds like the vmware driver does something weird.

Anyway, we're not the upstream of wbar - please post this request there.

The wbarconf -> apply trick works. I posted the repositioning request on the wbar site.
