« on: November 24, 2012, 07:44:56 PM »
Hello ive searched the forum but im not getting any smarter  ::)

So i have a new computer with an AMD Radeon HD 7660D

My question is as follows ive installed tinycore to harddrive and added xorg7.6 and xfce4
now i ofc would love to have the driver for the graphics card working, what packages do i need for this?
and do i need to type something in console to get it to work?

Sincerally

Hi ztealmax
A little Googling suggests you probably want the  ati-catalyst.tcz extension. One of its dependencies is
ati-fglrx.tcz, be sure to carefully read the info file for that one. It provides instructions for compiling the
ati-fglrx-module-3.0.21-tinycore.tcz  extension which is also a dependency.

Yes, that is too new for the current TC. So likely only AMD's blob will work. (+ of course the unaccelerated vesa and fbdev)
The only barriers that can stop you are the ones you create yourself.

First thing you should of done was to just use a flash drive (Roughly 1-5GB) to install TinyCore incase you run into problems along the way you could just reformat it and start over again. I got the ATI RADEON HD 5850 and i've been using xf86-video-ati.tcz, but you'd have to go into console (CTRL+ALT+[BACKSPACE or F1-F3]) to install it for OnBoot, so you can't use the App Browser while you are in TinyCore. The command should be something like this... tce-load -wi xf86-video-ati.tcz and it will automatically have the drivers load everytime you start your computer. That is a fairly new card and i hope this works out for you, good luck.
